Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 2026

Dials Radio ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Dials app ("the App").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage statistics including stations played, listening duration, and feature usage to improve the app experience. This data does not identify you personally and is processed through Firebase Analytics.

1.2 Favorites & Preferences

Your favorite stations and app preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Premium users may opt into iCloud sync, which stores this data in your personal iCloud account governed by Apple's iCloud terms.

1.3 Subscription Data

Subscription status is managed through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat. We do not store or process payment information directly. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID to manage your subscription state.

1.4 Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver them. Your device token is stored securely and used solely for notification delivery. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.

1.5 Crash Reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports. These contain device type, OS version, and stack traces to help us fix bugs. No personal data is included in crash reports.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We are committed to minimal data collection. We do not collect:

  • Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
  • Location data or GPS coordinates
  • Contacts, photos, or data from other apps
  • Browsing history or search queries from other apps
  • Advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking

3. How We Use Your Information

The limited data we collect is used exclusively to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's functionality
  • Improve app performance and user experience
  • Fix bugs and resolve technical issues
  • Deliver push notifications you have opted into
  • Manage your subscription status

4. Data Storage & Security

All user data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework with file-level encryption. Premium users who enable iCloud sync have their data stored in their personal iCloud account, protected by Apple's security infrastructure.

We do not maintain external servers that store your personal data. All data processing occurs on-device or through Apple's secure infrastructure.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

5.1 Radio Browser API

Station catalog data is fetched from the community-driven Radio Browser API. No personal data is sent to this service. Only station metadata queries are made.

5.2 RevenueCat

Manages subscription state using an anonymous app user ID. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.

5.3 Firebase (Google)

Used for anonymous analytics and crash reporting. See Firebase Privacy Policy for details.

5.4 Apple Services

iCloud sync, App Store subscriptions, and push notifications are managed through Apple's infrastructure. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention

Local data is retained on your device until you uninstall the App or clear its data. Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 14 months in Firebase, after which it is automatically deleted. Subscription records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat per their respective policies.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Radio content is provided by third-party broadcasters, and we do not control or curate broadcast content.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Delete your data: Uninstall the App to remove all local data. iCloud data can be managed in iOS Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > Manage Storage.
  • Opt out of analytics: Disable analytics sharing in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
  • Disable notifications: Turn off notifications in iOS Settings > Notifications > Dials.
  • Cancel subscriptions: Manage subscriptions in iOS Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
